Police Rescue 10 Passengers from Bandit Attack in Kano

On July 26, 2026, at approximately 1730hrs, the Kano State Police Command responded to a distress call regarding an attack by five suspected armed bandits on a Toyota Hiace bus traveling from Jos to Kano along the Jos-Kano highway, specifically at the Falgore Forest in Doguwa Local Government Area. The bandits, armed with machetes and a firearm, blocked the highway and abducted 13 out of the 20 passengers on board.

The Divisional Police Officer of Doguwa Division mobilized tactical police operatives to the scene, where they engaged in a gun duel with the bandits. As a result, nine victims were successfully rescued, and one male victim escaped captivity.

Unfortunately, three victims, consisting of one male and two females, remain in captivity. The rescued individuals were taken to Doguwa General Hospital for medical evaluation and are reported to be in stable condition.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the community for their timely information and assured ongoing investigations and efforts to rescue the remaining captives.
