Women Journalists Condemn Mob Killing in Kaduna State

The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State chapter, condemned the mob attack and killing of a woman accused of child theft that occurred in Mararaban Jos, Kaduna State. In a statement released on Thursday, the association described the act as barbaric and inhumane, emphasizing that it is a clear violation of the rule of law.

NAWOJ commended the Kaduna State Police Command for their swift action in arresting and arraigning 24 suspects linked to the incident. The statement, jointly signed by Chairperson Sahura Jibril Maidoki and Secretary Hadiza Abdullahi Bello, expressed shock and sadness over the gruesome killing, stating that there is no justification for such acts of jungle justice.

The association urged citizens to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspected criminal activities to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and prosecution. Furthermore, NAWOJ called on the judiciary to ensure speedy prosecution of those involved in the killing to serve justice for the deceased's family.
