John Todd Honored as Aare Oluko of Ogombo Kingdom

John Todd, the Founding Head and Director of Education at Charterhouse Lagos, was installed as the Aare Oluko of Ogombo Kingdom in Lagos State on Saturday. This honor was bestowed by Oba Abiodun Ogunbo in recognition of Todd's significant contributions to education and his strong ties to the Ogombo community.

The installation ceremony took place at the monarch’s palace and was attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, Lagos State Government representatives, education stakeholders, and members of the Charterhouse Lagos leadership. Todd has been pivotal in establishing Charterhouse Lagos as the Nigerian branch of the British independent-school institution, adapting its educational model to fit the Nigerian context while incorporating local cultural elements.

He expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of education extending beyond the classroom into community service and youth development. The event marked a significant milestone in the relationship between Charterhouse Lagos and the Ogombo community, reflecting the school’s commitment to local identity alongside its British educational roots.
