Monimichelle CEO Calls for NPFL Emergency Over Ranking

Ebi Egb, the CEO of Monimichelle, a sports facility construction company, has urged for a 'state of emergency' on the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) due to its recent drop in global rankings from 91st to 76th. This decline, as noted by Egb, reflects the long-standing neglect of football infrastructure in Nigeria.

He stressed that the country cannot expect to compete with leading football nations without addressing the poor conditions and shortage of standard playing facilities. Egb highlighted that substandard pitches are a significant obstacle to football growth in Nigeria, as they fail to meet FIFA and CAF standards, putting Nigerian clubs at a disadvantage compared to their counterparts in other countries.

He pointed out that even technically gifted teams struggle to express themselves fully on poor playing surfaces, which can affect their performance. Egb concluded by urging stakeholders to invest in modern facilities capable of restoring the NPFL's credibility and helping Nigerian clubs compete effectively on the global stage.
