Tarik Sektioui Appointed Oman National Football Coach

The Oman Football Association announced the appointment of Moroccan Tarik Sektioui as the new head coach of the national football team, replacing Portuguese veteran Carlos Queiroz. This decision was confirmed on a Sunday, following Queiroz's departure by mutual consent due to regional instability linked to conflicts in the Middle East.

Queiroz, who took charge in July 2025 on a one-year deal, had a record of 11 matches with three wins, five losses, and three draws during his tenure, which included an exit from the Arab Cup group stage and missing the 2026 World Cup after losing in the Asian playoff last October. Sektioui, aged 48, previously guided Morocco to an Arab Cup title in Qatar last December and led the Olympic team to a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Games.

The Oman Football Association has not disclosed the details of Sektioui's contract as the team prepares for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
