Mother Seeks Help After Son's Disappearance Post-Police Arrest in Abia State

Justina Chibuzor, a 58-year-old widow, is distressed over the disappearance of her son, Ifeanyi Chibuzor, who was arrested by the police in Umuahia, Abia State. Ifeanyi, a 22-year-old cobbler and motor oil seller, was taken into custody on April 9, 2025.

Despite efforts to locate him, including visits to police facilities and legal action at the High Court in Umuahia before Justice K.C.J. Okereke, Ifeanyi's whereabouts remain unknown.

Justina, along with her daughter Adaku Chibuzor, has appealed for intervention from Governor Alex Otti, the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission. Legal assistance from Chimerez Onuigbo and the Legal Aid Council Umuahia has been sought.

The police have been unresponsive, leading to a court judgment against them for N200 million in damages. Efforts to reach the police for comment through the Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, have been unsuccessful.
