Motorists in Edo State Demand More CNG Stations

Motorists with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles in Edo State are lamenting the shortage of CNG filling stations, stating that the existing outlets are inadequate to meet the growing demand. Currently, there are about four or five functional CNG stations in Benin City.

Chukwu Monday noted that the number of CNG vehicles has tripled due to its cost-effectiveness compared to petrol. He mentioned that refilling at CNG stations often takes a minimum of five hours.

Another driver, Mr. Moses Abiodu, expressed frustration over long queues, stating that the limited number of stations cannot cater to the increasing demand.

He highlighted that only one or two stations may be dispensing gas at any time, complicating the refilling process. Mr.

Osaro Elvis shared his experience of waiting over three hours without certainty of when he would be served. Motorists are calling for more CNG stations to adequately serve the rising number of CNG-powered vehicles in the state.
