Muslim World League Chief in Abuja for Peace Conference

Dr Mohammad Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, arrived in Abuja on Monday for the Interfaith Peace Conference, which is being jointly convened with Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS). He was welcomed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport by Dr ‘Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Information; Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare; and Ahmad Aliyu, the Governor of Sokoto State, along with JIBWIS members.

The two-day conference aims to promote religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and development, gathering Muslim and Christian leaders and other stakeholders. Garba Mohammed, Chairman of the Conference Committee, stated that Al-Issa's visit is primarily for this event, which is significant for Nigeria's social and economic development.

The conference will also see the signing of the Abuja Declaration, aimed at preventing religious tensions from escalating into violence and promoting moderation and tolerance among religious leaders. Over 50 senior dignitaries from both communities are expected to endorse the declaration.
