Nigeria's Call for Religious Harmony Amid Security Crisis

At the International Conference on “Diversity and Social Peace: A Partnership for a Promising Future” held in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, urged Nigerians to unite against insecurity, emphasizing that religious, ethnic, and political differences should not dictate the national response to security challenges. The conference, organized by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in partnership with the Muslim World League, gathered various stakeholders, including government officials and religious leaders.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, called for the protection of shared humanity and the rejection of divisive tactics. The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, advocated for dialogue and action to address national issues.

Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, National Chairman of JIBWIS, stressed the importance of collaboration among government, religious organizations, and communities, particularly in education and skills development to prevent radicalization among youth.
