MURIC Challenges Alaafin Over Chief Imam Appointment Claim, Asserts Muslim Rights

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) refuted the Alaafin of Oyo, Akeem Owoade's claim of having the exclusive right to appoint the Chief Imam of Oyo town. MURIC's founder, Ishaq Akintola, contested the monarch's assertion, stating that it lacked legal basis and challenged him to provide evidence supporting his privilege.

Akintola criticized the notion of traditional practices superseding established laws, emphasizing the need for adherence to democratic principles over monarchical traditions. The organization highlighted the importance of religious freedom and equality, rejecting any attempt to subjugate Muslims under outdated customs.
