HYPPADEC Launches N700m River Gurara Embankment Project

The National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has commenced the construction of a N700 million embankment project on the River Gurara, aimed at mitigating the recurrent flooding that affects over 30 communities in Munye, Niger State. During an inspection visit, Managing Director Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa emphasized the urgency of the project, which is scheduled for completion before the end of the year.

He urged the contractor to expedite work to ensure the safety of homes and farmlands in the affected areas. Haruna Jimoh Gabi, the Director of Finance and Administration, represented Yelwa and assured that the project would be delivered on time, while stressing adherence to the contract standards.

The traditional ruler of Muye, Alhaji Salihu Mohammed, praised HYPPADEC for its prompt action, noting that the timely completion of the embankment would significantly enhance the livelihoods of the communities impacted by annual flooding.
