HYPPADEC Aids Kwara Farmers with Cash and Inputs

On Monday, the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) distributed cash and farm inputs to 5,000 rural farmers in Kwara State to alleviate the impact of a dry-season farming disaster. Managing Director Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa stated that the farmers received power tillers, planters, and other equipment, while the state government provided improved maize seedlings, fertilizers, and agrochemicals.

HYPPADEC allocated ₦10 million for 100 indigent farmers affected by natural disasters. Yelwa emphasized that the distribution fulfilled the commission's promise to support farmers whose crops were destroyed.

He praised the state government for its contribution, noting that the initiative would enhance agricultural productivity and food security. The total cost of the intervention was approximately ₦100 million, with relief materials valued at ₦90 million.

Mrs. Toyosi Thomas, the Supervising Commissioner for Agriculture in Kwara, highlighted the partnership's potential to boost productivity and improve farmers' yields, ensuring beneficiaries receive extension services for effective use of the inputs.
