N-HYPPADEC Delivers 20 Housing Units to Benue IDPs

On Tuesday, the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) officially handed over 20 resettlement housing units to families of internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by recurrent flooding in Benue State. The inauguration took place in Mbagen, Buruku Local Government Area, with Managing Director Sadiq Yelwa, represented by Director of Finance and Administration Jimoh Gabi, emphasizing the project’s role in restoring hope and dignity to the victims.

Yelwa noted that 63 housing units were approved across beneficiary local government areas, with the first 20 completed, comprising 10 houses in Buruku and 10 in Guma. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, represented by Prof.

Daniel Ipilakya, highlighted the project’s significance in enhancing climate resilience and improving the quality of life for vulnerable communities. Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, represented by Secretary to the State Government Deborah Aber, expressed support for the initiative, while traditional ruler His Royal Highness Moses Hanior described it as a major milestone for local welfare.
