NAAT Rejects Federal Gov’t Loan Scheme

The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has rejected the Federal Government's Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund (TISSF), calling it a misplaced priority that could lead to workers being plunged into debt. NAAT believes the scheme fails to address the real issues affecting academic technologists, such as outstanding payments and arrears.

The union demands the payment of three and a half months of withheld salary, seven months of arrears in Occupational Hazard Allowance, and other outstanding payments. NAAT also expressed outrage over the alleged revocation of land belonging to the Yakubu Gowon University, warning that reducing the university's land could cripple future expansion projects and affect its contribution to national development.

The union urged the government to redirect the TISSF funds towards clearing outstanding staff claims and called for the reversal of the land revocation decision.
