NAF Airstrikes Neutralize 18 Terrorists in Borno State

On September 11, 2023, Nigerian military aircraft operating under Operation Hadin Kai executed airstrikes in Tumbunma Baba, located in the Tumbuns general area of Borno State. The operation was initiated at approximately 6:05 a.m. following intelligence reports indicating a high-profile terrorist meeting in the area.

Counter-terrorism expert Zagzola Makama reported that the air interdiction was based on confirmatory intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted on September 9, which identified several terrorist structures and logistics hubs. The aircraft engaged the identified targets with onboard munitions, resulting in the destruction of multiple structures and logistics facilities, and neutralizing around 18 terrorists believed to be operating from the enclave.

The operation achieved an estimated success rate of 85%, with recommendations for further air interdictions to consolidate gains and disrupt remaining terrorist elements in the area. This operation is part of the military's ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist networks and limit their operational capabilities.
