NANS Forms Committee to Monitor NEDC Education Projects

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has formed an independent committee to track and verify educational intervention projects executed by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC). This initiative was prompted by significant public investment in educational development in the North-East and the necessity to ensure that these interventions reach their intended beneficiaries.

A letter of appointment from NANS National President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, outlines that the committee, chaired by Comrade Ali Amtai Saidu, will conduct verification exercises, engage with beneficiary institutions and communities, assess impacts, and produce evidence-based reports for advocacy. Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir serves as vice chairman, with Muhammed Sani Hassan as secretary.

Other committee members include Comrade Ibrahim Usman Maga, Comrade Bukar Abubakar Gana, Comrade Sulaiman Umar Chinade, Comrade Aliyu Sulaiman Aliyu, and Philip Peter Achagwa. Following his appointment, Comrade Amtai Saidu expressed concerns regarding the alleged abandonment of education projects in the region and inadequate scholarship schemes, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address these issues.
