Nasarawa Secures $34M for Business Environment Reforms

On 13 September 2026, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule announced that the state has secured more than $34 million from the World Bank-backed State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) programme. This funding aims to support reforms and projects to improve the business environment in Nasarawa.

During a meeting of the Nasarawa Enabling Business Environment Council (NEBEC) in Lafia, Sule mandated that every project proposal must include a clear financial figure and demonstrate its potential to ease business operations in the state. The state previously received $4 million in 2023 for various reforms, including the digitalization of land administration and initiatives to attract industrial investments, which helped Nasarawa rank 10th in the Subnational Ease of Doing Business ranking.

The state later received $11 million in 2025 and $17 million in 2026, with the latest funds yet to be utilized as previous projects are still ongoing. Proposed projects include upgrades to the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital and infrastructure improvements.
