N’Assembly Committee Advocates Grants for New Hospitals

The Nigerian National Assembly's joint committee on health, chaired by Senator Ipialibo Banigo, has called for take-off grants to support newly established hospitals across the country. This appeal was made during the submission of a harmonized report on the 2026 budget proposal for the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Welfare.

Senator Banigo emphasized that these grants are essential for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of new health facilities. The proposed budget for the Ministry of Health totals N2,136,248,295,543, which includes personnel costs of N1,170,495,177,648, overhead costs of N57,031,955,090, and capital expenditure of N924,251,647,868.

She noted that hospitals have not received 100% of their appropriated funds for 2024, with only 60% released so far. Deputy Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Senator Moham Monguno, assured the committee that the matter would be addressed.
