Alausa Demands Timely Completion of National Library Project

Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, has mandated contractors and consultants involved in the National Library of Nigeria project to meet established delivery timelines or face penalties. This directive was issued during a meeting in Abuja with stakeholders, including contractors and officials from the National Library of Nigeria.

Alausa stated that the federal government is ready to provide necessary funding but expects corresponding performance, quality, and accountability. He emphasized the end of indefinite construction periods for the National Library project and announced that new contractual arrangements would incorporate incentives and disincentives to ensure performance.

Alausa warned that failure to meet guidelines and timelines would result in penalties. To expedite completion, the project has been divided into two major components: physical infrastructure and furnishing, allowing for concurrent work.

He assured stakeholders that funding would be available, contingent upon strict adherence to delivery standards. This renewed focus aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to prioritizing education and human capital development.
