Nigeria and Qatar Libraries Partner for Digital Transformation

The National Library of Nigeria (NLN) has established a significant partnership with the Qatar National Library (QNL) to enhance collaboration in knowledge exchange, research, digital transformation, and cultural heritage preservation. This agreement was signed on August 12, 2026, during the 90th World Library and Information Congress (IFLA WLIC 2026) in Busan, South Korea, by Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi, the National Librarian/Chief Executive Officer of NLN, and Huism Tan, the Executive Director of QNL, with Nigeria’s Ambassador to Korea, Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut, present.

The partnership aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, educational materials, and professional expertise, promoting joint content development and cultural exchanges. Prof. Anunobi described the agreement as a milestone in Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy, bridging West Africa and the Middle East.

The collaboration stems from prior engagements initiated by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during her visit to QNL in October 2025 and subsequent discussions in 2026 led by Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa.
