Navy Chief Advocates Tech-Driven Logistics at Seminar

Vice Admiral Abbas, the Chief of Naval Staff, addressed the Nigerian Navy Logistics Seminar 2026 at the Nigerian Navy Logistics College in Dawakin Tofa, Kano State. He highlighted the growing complexity of military operations, which demands a robust logistics system to sustain naval platforms, personnel, and infrastructure.

Abbas stressed that effective logistics must ensure the right resources are available at the right time and place to meet operational objectives. He noted the evolution of the Navy's logistics system, which has become a distinct branch since the establishment of the Nigerian Navy Supply School in Calabar in 1978.

He urged seminar participants to propose practical recommendations for enhancing resource planning and service delivery. Abbas also called for greater use of Information and Communication Technology and integrated logistics systems as part of his Strategic Directive 2026–2027.

He pointed out that Nigeria's security environment has expanded the Navy's responsibilities, necessitating a long-term logistics roadmap to support fleet renewal and indigenous shipbuilding.
