Nigerian Navy Inaugurates Solar Boreholes in Surulere

The Nigerian Navy inaugurated three solar-powered boreholes in Ward F2, Surulere, Lagos State, on Friday, enhancing access to potable water for local residents. This initiative is part of the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project Scheme and was inaugurated in honor of Rear Admiral Abolade Ogunleye, who is from the community.

Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the Chief of the Naval Staff, was represented by Rear Admiral Chijioke Onyemaobi, the Chief of Naval Transformation. Onyemaobi stated that the project reflects the Navy's commitment to fostering stronger relationships with host communities and addressing their needs.

He emphasized the link between national security and community well-being, urging residents to maintain the facilities. The initiative encourages senior naval officers to engage with their communities to identify pressing needs, with projects ranging from water supply to healthcare.

This approach aims to sustain connections between military officers and their communities after service.
