Nigerian Navy Donates Borehole and Town Hall in Cross River

The Nigerian Navy has donated a 50,000-litre Braithwaite water storage tank, a solar-powered industrial borehole, and a renovated community town hall to the Adiabo Akani Obio community in Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State. This initiative was executed under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project scheme, honoring Rear Admiral Patrick Effah, who is a native of the community.

At the commissioning ceremony on Friday, Effah expressed that the water project was inspired by his childhood experiences and aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by residents, particularly women and children. He consulted community elders and youth leaders to ensure the project's relevance.

The facility has already attracted residents, and Effah emphasized the importance of safe drinking water for public hygiene. Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by Rear Admiral Chijioke Onyemaobi, highlighted the Navy's commitment to civil-military cooperation.

The Obong of Calabar commended the initiative and urged the community to protect the facilities.
