Nigerian Navy Renovates School, Enhances Community Welfare

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Navy commissioned a renovated primary school in Okpoma, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, as part of its civil-military cooperation efforts. The project was executed under the Chief of Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects Scheme by Rear Admiral E.A.

Zipele, a local indigene. It involved the renovation of three blocks of eight classrooms, staff and administrative offices, toilet facilities, and the construction of a drainage system, along with a solar-powered borehole to provide potable water.

Rear Admiral S.D. Ibrahim, representing Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibe Abbas, emphasized the importance of empowering communities for national security and prosperity.

He noted that the project aims to improve primary education quality and reduce flooding. Ibrahim commended Zipele for his commitment to community development and urged residents to maintain the facilities.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy launched in 2024 to enhance the Navy's civil-military cooperation and support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
