Nigerian Navy Launches Water Supply Project in Gombe

The Nigerian Navy inaugurated a solar-powered water supply project at the Cottage Hospital in Pindiga, located in the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State. This project aims to resolve the community's long-standing challenge of accessing potable water.

The initiative, executed under the Chief of Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects, includes a five-horsepower solar-powered borehole, water storage tanks, and toilets. Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by Rear Admiral Adamu Yahaya, emphasized the Navy's commitment to civil-military cooperation and community development.

He stated that access to potable water is essential for socio-economic development and urged the community to maintain the facility for future generations. The project sources water from a location about one kilometer away due to geological challenges in Pindiga, which has struggled with clean drinking water for centuries.

Rear Admiral Umar Faruk was commended for identifying the water issue and utilizing the initiative to address it.
