NBTE Approves AI Programme at Kwara State Polytechnic

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval for Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin to commence a National Diploma (ND) programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the next academic session. This announcement was made by the Polytechnic's Rector, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, during the opening ceremony of the 7th Annual International Conference of the Institute of Applied Sciences, held at the Admiral Mohammed Lawal Auditorium.

The conference, themed “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development in Sciences and Applied Sciences,” gathered academics, professionals, and stakeholders to discuss the impact and applications of AI. Engr. Abdul commended the Institute for selecting a timely theme and expressed confidence that participants would benefit from the conference.

He encouraged contributions in the form of ideas and research papers to support the new ND programme, emphasizing that any valuable input would be welcomed. The NBTE's approval positions the Polytechnic as an early adopter of AI education at the ND level in Nigeria.
