NCAA Threatens Royal Air Maroc with Suspension in Nigeria

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a warning to Royal Air Maroc regarding potential suspension of its operations in Nigeria due to persistent violations of consumer protection regulations and inadequate treatment of Nigerian passengers. Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, made this announcement on Thursday via a post on X.

He accused the airline of failing to improve its handling of Nigerian passengers despite previous sanctions, citing issues such as baggage-related infractions, poor passenger handling, and slow complaint resolution. Achimugu claimed that Royal Air Maroc frequently neglects to notify passengers about delayed baggage and does not provide timely assistance.

He also criticized the airline's Country Manager, Ahmed Boussouf, for ignoring regulatory meeting invitations and responding dismissively to the NCAA. Achimugu stated that the NCAA would recommend the suspension of Royal Air Maroc's operations until the airline commits to complying with Nigerian aviation regulations and improving passenger treatment.
