NCC Commends ATU for Unified African Telecom Voice

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) praised the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) for its efforts to promote a united African voice on telecommunications issues during a conference held in Abuja. Dr.

Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, expressed this commendation on Monday. Stella Erebor, the Director of Internal Audit at NCC, was elected as the Chairperson of the conference.

The event marked the 7th Ordinary Session of the ATU Plenipotentiary Conference, with Nigeria hosting the gathering. The conference aims to prepare African representatives to address telecommunications issues and shape the future of the digital economy in Africa.

The preparatory committee will consider the activities and resolutions for the ATU from 2023 to 2026, with a focus on harmonizing spectrum across borders, addressing cybersecurity threats, and enhancing regulatory cooperation. The ATU Plenipotentiary Conference will convene in Doha in November, where leadership priorities for the continent will be determined.
