NCDMB, Chevron, Bristow Launch Pilot Training for Nigerians

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Chevron, and Bristow Helicopters Nigeria Limited have initiated a pilot training program aimed at training 10 Nigerian graduates as helicopter pilots. This program, launched in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, is designed to address the critical shortage of indigenous pilots in the oil and gas sector.

The training will span 18 months and will combine intensive classroom instruction with practical flight operations, leading to the attainment of both private and commercial pilot licenses. Dr.

Obinna Ezeobi, the General Manager of Corporate Communications at NCDMB, emphasized the program's role in building local capacity and enhancing Nigerian participation in the oil and gas industry. Ms.

Alexi Emel, General Manager of Human Capacity Development at NCDMB, encouraged trainees to remain focused throughout the program. Mr.

Ikhuoria Aimienwanu from Chevron noted the program's significance as it is the first of its kind aimed at developing indigenous pilots. Capt.

Oladapo Oyelek from Bristow highlighted the company's long history of aviation training.
