NDC Confirms Bridgitte Epelle-Asemota as Edo South Candidate

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed that Bridgitte Epelle-Asemota remains its officially sponsored candidate for the Edo South Senatorial District, following an error in the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recent candidate publication. The NDC, through its Director of New Media and Strategic Communication, Agada Abuh Theophilus, stated that while Mrs.

Epelle-Asemota's name and details were correctly listed, another aspirant's photograph and credentials were mistakenly published. The party described this as an "embarrassing" error caused by "mischievous elements" within INEC.

The NDC emphasized that it had properly submitted all necessary documentation for Mrs. Epelle-Asemota's candidacy, asserting that she is a Nigerian citizen of Benin ancestry.

The party also addressed a campaign questioning her eligibility based on ethnicity, highlighting her deep ties to the Benin community. Mrs.

Epelle-Asemota has extensive experience in public service and previously contested for a House of Representatives seat in 2023.
