NDC Secretary Okafor Dismisses Ossai's Legal Challenge

Dr. Sebastine Okafor, the Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State, has criticized the legal action taken by Bishop Oscar Ossai, a factional candidate for the Enugu North Senatorial District, calling it an "exercise in futility." Okafor asserted that Ossai cannot contest something that does not exist, emphasizing that no primary election was held that resulted in Ossai's candidacy. He referred to the lawsuit filed by Ossai at the Federal High Court in Abuja as "dead on arrival." According to Okafor, Dr. Chika Obetta is the legitimate candidate of the party, as confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reports.

He accused Ossai of being part of a group that undermined the democratically elected state executive led by Dr. Johnpaul Anih. Okafor expressed concerns over the NDC's handling of internal affairs, claiming it has weakened the party in Enugu State and called for genuine internal democracy and transparency.
