NDLEA and Army Seize 604kg Cannabis, Arrest Nine in Edo

On August 5, 2026, the Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with personnel from the Nigerian Army, conducted a raid at a notorious drug hub in Ewe Luleha, Owan West Local Government Area, recovering 604.5kg of skunk cannabis contained in 65 bags. The operation was led by Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju, who announced that a manhunt is underway for a suspected drug kingpin named Sunday, who is currently in hiding.

In a separate operation, nine suspected drug peddlers were arrested across various locations in Edo State. Among those apprehended was Musa Muhammed, a 58-year-old grandfather, found with various illicit substances.

Other suspects included individuals from Delta and Katsina, with varying amounts of cannabis and other drugs. Ofoyeju emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting drug-related activities and assured the public of ongoing investigations and prosecutions.
