NDLEA Destroys 12kg Illicit Drugs in Kano State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) publicly destroyed 12,234 kilograms of assorted illicit narcotic and psychotropic substances in Kano State. This operation was conducted under the leadership of Malam Aminu and Dahiru Yahaya Lawal at the Aminu Kano International Airport.

The destruction marked a significant milestone in the agency's ongoing war against drug abuse. A statement from the NDLEA indicated that the seizure resulted from intelligence-led operations across Kano State, which included targeted raids.

During this period, the NDLEA arrested 904 suspects, comprising 869 males and 35 females, and seized 2.5 tons of assorted illicit substances. Governor Abba Yusuf emphasized the state's firm resolve to dismantle criminal networks that threaten the community and noted that enforcement efforts would be complemented by rehabilitation initiatives.

He mentioned that 400 youths had been arrested and would face prosecution as part of the state's commitment to addressing drug-related issues.
