NDLEA Seizes Over 2,248Kg of Illicit Drugs in Bauchi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported a significant achievement in Bauchi State, seizing 2,248.591 kilograms of illicit drugs over the last seven months. The confiscated drugs included cannabis sativa, methamphetamine (commonly known as ice), Rohypnol, crack cocaine, tramadol, and codeine cough syrup.

Hassan Yaqub, the NDLEA command head in Bauchi State, disclosed these details during a press conference held to commemorate the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event provided an opportunity to assess the command's operations and strengthen efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the state.

Yaqub emphasized the persistent issues related to drug problems and the need for collective action from stakeholders, including parents, guardians, religious leaders, and community members, to support the agency's campaign against illicit drugs, which he noted are closely linked to criminal activities that destroy families and fuel crime.
