NDLEA Seizes 1.63 Million Tramadol Pills in Operations

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted 1.63 million tramadol pills during a cross-border operation along the Nigeria-Togo-Benin Republic corridor. This operation, which took place on July 2 and July 4, 2023, involved two long trailers.

The first trailer was intercepted along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leading to the recovery of 853,000 tramadol pills concealed beneath the cargo floor, resulting in the arrest of 22-year-old driver Jabir Kabiru. The second trailer was intercepted shortly after, recovering an additional 777,000 pills.

The NDLEA had previously seized 558,900 tramadol pills from a truck entering Nigeria a week earlier. The agency's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, noted that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle transnational drug trafficking syndicates.

Other arrests included 44-year-old Chioma Nneka Mokem, who attempted to collect a shipment of synthetic cannabis, and 80-year-old Chika Ugwoji, found with 800 grams of skunk in Ahoada.
