Yobe University’s BioRTC Recognized as Top Research Hub

The National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee commended Yobe State University (YSU) for its Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC), recognizing it as one of the best research facilities in Africa. The committee, led by Hon. Dr. Maina Yaumi, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning of Borno State, made this assessment during a monitoring visit to the university in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.

The delegation inspected various infrastructures, including the University Library and lecture theatres. Dr. Yaumi expressed surprise at the quality of the facilities, stating that the BioRTC is exceptional and unmatched in many places they have visited.

He announced plans to recommend the centre for presentation to the National Economic Council, emphasizing the need for increased publicity to attract international researchers and investors. The university was represented by Dr. Amina Makintami, the University Librarian, along with other key officials.

The NEC delegation concluded that YSU has laid a solid foundation for research excellence.
