NELFUND Refutes Claims of Student Loan Suspension

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially debunked a circulated notice claiming that it has suspended its student loan disbursement program. The agency described the document as a fake statement issued on Saturday, clarifying that there has been no announcement regarding a pause in loan disbursement.

NELFUND urged the public to disregard the misleading message and to rely on official communication channels for accurate information. The clarification comes amid growing attention to the scheme, which is designed to benefit millions of students and improve access to higher education across Nigeria.

According to government figures, the intervention has cost approximately N1.1 billion, with 160,000 youths receiving digital skill training related to the initiative. NELFUND emphasized that it has not issued any direct fund advisories and encouraged stakeholders to verify updates through its official platforms to avoid misinformation.
