Shettima Lauds NELFUND for Supporting Poor Students

Vice President Kashim Shettima described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a landmark initiative that has alleviated financial burdens for students from poor backgrounds, enabling access to higher education. Established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, NELFUND serves as a vital social equalizer and a mechanism for poverty alleviation.

Shettima made these statements on Wednesday in a release by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, during a meeting with the University of Abuja management, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Hakeem Fawehinmi. He noted that NELFUND covers tuition fees and provides monthly allowances, ensuring that poverty does not hinder educational opportunities.

Shettima also commended the University of Abuja's leadership under Fawehinmi for overcoming past challenges and pledged federal support for the institution. He attributed Nigeria's recent credit rating upgrades to improved economic conditions under the Tinubu administration.
