NEPZA Enforces 10-Year Ban on Strikes at Dangote Refinery Amid Labor Disputes

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) has enforced a 10-year ban on strikes and lockouts at Dangote Refinery following labor unrest. The move comes after the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) shut down the facility, alleging unfair dismissals of union members.

NEPZA aims to prevent external union interference and ensure the refinery's uninterrupted operation within the free trade zone. NEPZA's Managing Director, Olufemi Ogunyemi, clarified that trade disputes should be resolved internally, emphasizing the benefits of the free trade zone status for the refinery's economic support.

Martin Odeh, NEPZA's Head of Corporate Communications, highlighted the need for a conducive business environment within the zone.
