NERC Hosts Seminar for Lagos Judges on Electricity Law

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) held a regional seminar for judges of the Lagos State High Court to strengthen their understanding of the evolving Nigerian electricity supply industry. The seminar, themed "Nigeria's Electricity Market: Transition, Law, and Regulation," is part of a series aimed at enhancing judicial capacity and promoting a shared understanding of the legal regulatory framework governing Nigeria's electricity market.

Dr. Musiliu Oseni, Chairman of NERC, opened the event, emphasizing the importance of familiarizing judges with the intricacies of the technical nature of the power sector.

He expressed a desire for deeper engagement with the industry, which is critical for Nigeria's economic development. Mr.

Lawal Pedro, the Attorney General of Lagos State, and Hame Oyenuga, the Solicitor General, commended the seminar as a valuable platform for judges to engage with stakeholders in the electricity industry. Justice Kazeem Alogba, Chief Judge of Lagos State, encouraged full participation to gain a deeper understanding of the evolving electricity landscape.

The seminar featured presentations on various aspects of the Nigerian electricity supply industry, including transitional and decentralized electricity sector legal regulatory perspectives.
