NERC Trains Lagos Judges on Electricity Market Regulations

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) organized a seminar for judges of the Lagos State High Court to strengthen their understanding of Nigeria's evolving electricity market. Held on a Monday, the seminar focused on the theme of transitioning Nigeria's electricity market and was aimed at enhancing collaboration between the judiciary and stakeholders in the power sector.

NERC Chairman Dr. Musiliu Oseni emphasized the importance of judges being familiar with the technical complexities of the electricity sector.

The seminar featured presentations on critical aspects of the Nigerian electricity supply industry, including the transition to a decentralized electricity sector and legal regulatory perspectives. Notable attendees included Lagos State Attorney General Mr.

Lawal Pedro and Solicitor General Hame Oyenuga, who commended NERC for organizing the seminar. The event was described as a valuable platform for judges to engage directly with stakeholders in the electricity industry.

This seminar is the first in a series aimed at building judicial capacity and fostering a shared understanding of the legal regulatory framework guiding Nigeria's electricity market transition.
