NERDC Warns Against Fake Funding Appeal for Curriculum

The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) issued a disclaimer on Monday in Abuja, rejecting a fraudulent document circulating that solicited financial contributions for the production, printing, and distribution of the Revised Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) for the 2026/2027 academic session. Professor Salisu Shehu, the Executive Secretary of NERDC, stated that the document was false, unauthorized, and misleading.

He clarified that the Council had not authorized any correspondence requesting financial assistance for the curriculum. NERDC confirmed that arrangements for the production and distribution of the revised curriculum had been finalized through appropriate federal and state education authorities.

Shehu urged government agencies, educational institutions, and the public to disregard any such correspondence claiming to originate from NERDC. He reaffirmed the Council's commitment to transparency and professionalism in its communications and assured stakeholders that all authentic updates regarding the Revised Basic Education Curriculum would be disseminated through official channels.
