Olayinka Olajide Sets New Texas Tech 100m Record

Olayinka Olajide, a sprinter at Texas Tech, made history by clocking a personal best of 11.13 seconds in the women's 100m, placing her eighth on the school's all-time list. This performance occurred during a relay event last Friday, where she finished behind Page Rasmussen, who set a personal best of 11.06 seconds.

Olajide also played a key role in breaking the Texas Tech record for the 4x1600m relay, running the opening leg alongside teammates Anita Afrifa, Mekenz Kellei, and Fanni Arendt, achieving a new school record of 3:43.95, surpassing the previous mark set in 2005. Throughout the season, Olajide has shown remarkable form, lowering her 60m personal best twice, with a time of 7.32 seconds in February.

She is set to represent Nigeria at the 2024 African Games and the Paris 2024 Olympics, having previously won multiple medals at the African Games.
