Gusau to Remain NFF President Amid Leadership Calls

Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, the former chairman of Gombe FA, asserted that Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the current President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), will not step down by September 29, 2026. Speaking in Abuja, Gara advised against calls for leadership change, arguing that such changes do not resolve Nigeria's football issues.

He noted that the failure to qualify for the recent FIFA World Cup should not be the sole basis for judging Gusau's leadership, as previous administrations also faced similar challenges. Gara emphasized that football development requires stability and time, urging stakeholders to evaluate the current leadership based on factual progress rather than emotional responses.

He dismissed rumors of plots to destabilize the NFF and expressed confidence in Gusau's ability to complete necessary reforms. Gara called for support for Gusau's re-election, likening it to the tenure of former NFF president Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
