NFF Orders Super Falcons Technical Crew to Resign

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed the members of the Super Falcons’ technical crew to step down with immediate effect. This decision follows a challenging campaign for the team in the 2026 qualifiers, where they failed to secure an automatic ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The NFF Executive Committee announced this directive in a brief notice on Monday, without providing specific reasons. Reports indicate that the Super Falcons faced difficulties during the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, beginning their Group C campaign with a loss to Malawi, who were debuting in the competition.

Malawi advanced to the final but lost to Cameroon, who won the WAFCON title for the first time. Nigeria's campaign ended in the quarter-finals after a defeat by Cameroon, which denied the Super Falcons an automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

They subsequently lost a playoff match against South Africa, leaving Nigeria to seek alternative routes to qualify for the World Cup.
