Ngwogwo Community Petitions Governor Over Land Dispute Attacks

Nwaez of the Ngwogwo Community Development Union, has submitted a petition to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru concerning alleged unprovoked attacks by women from the Mpu community in Aninri LGA, Enugu State. This incident, which took place on June 12, 2026, involved several women being assaulted over a land dispute, with two victims sustaining serious bodily injuries requiring hospitalization.

The petition, dated June 17, 2026, describes the attack as part of a recurring pattern of intimidation and harassment related to land occupation. Ngwogwo community claims historical ties to the land, citing a 50-year occupancy and traditional agreements symbolized by the Ogbu tree, a recognized landmark.

The community urges the governor to direct the Ebonyi State Boundary Committee to investigate the dispute and collaborate with Enugu State for a resolution. They warn that without urgent action, the situation may escalate into broader community conflict, threatening peace and security.
