The Nigerian Exchange closed at 217,167.57 points with mixed performance as top gainers—led by TRANSEXPR and NAHCO's 10% rallies—offset weakness in stocks like MECURE and HONYFLOUR. Trading activity remained robust with ₦54.4 billion in value exchanged across 56,923 deals, though market breadth favoured the upside.

The Nigerian bourse displayed characteristic volatility on Friday as institutional and retail players rotated positions across market sectors. The ASI settled at 217,167.57 points, supported by spirited buying in select equities that outweighed concurrent selling pressure elsewhere.

Transport and logistics stocks emerged as clear outperformers. TRANSEXPR and NAHCO both rallied 10%, with NAHCO adding ₦20.00 per share to reach ₦220.00, signalling investor appetite for stocks with operational leverage in Nigeria's recovering logistics ecosystem. ETI followed closely with a 9.97% gain, adding ₦6.10 to ₦67.30. Financials also participated in the rally: ACCESSCORP climbed 9.93% (+₦2.70 to ₦29.90) and was the second-most traded stock by volume with 90.3 million shares changing hands, suggesting institutional accumulation.

Conversely, selling pressure emerged in industrial and consumer stocks. MECURE slipped 9.96% (-₦6.70 to ₦60.60), while HONYFLOUR declined 9.52%, shedding ₦2.00. ETRANZACT lost 9.27% (-₦1.90), and CAVERTON fell 9.02%, indicating profit-taking or sector-specific headwinds in these segments.

Volume leadership was dominated by STERLINGNG with 383.8 million shares traded, reflecting sustained retail interest. Market liquidity remained healthy at ₦54.4 billion in transaction value. The divergence between gainers and losers suggests selective sector rotation rather than broad-market conviction.

Investors should monitor whether the transport and financial sector strength sustains in the next session or reverses.
