Niger Assembly Raises Lecturers’ Retirement Age To 70

The Niger State House of Assembly recently approved a bill that raises the retirement age of academic staff in institutions from 65 to 70 years, and for professors from 70 to 75 years. The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Mohammed Sani Idris, stated that this decision aims to align with national standards and retain experienced lecturers to enhance the quality of education in the state.

Additionally, the Assembly has resolved to summon officials from the Ministry of Works for failing to enforce road safety measures, emphasizing their commitment to protecting citizens and improving infrastructure.
