N-HYPPADEC Distributes N50m Relief to Borgu Banditry Victims

The National Hydro-electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has provided relief materials worth over N50 million to victims of banditry attacks in the Borgu local government area of Niger State. This initiative was officially launched on Tuesday by the managing director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa (Katukan Yauri), who expressed sympathy for the victims and noted that the intervention was in response to their request for building materials.

The relief package included 600 bundles of roofing sheets, 1,000 bags of cement, 60 bags of wood nails, and 300 packages of roofing nails. Yelwa commended the Niger State government for its ongoing support to citizens in need and urged residents, particularly those in flood-prone areas, to prepare for heavy rains by clearing drainage systems.

He also announced the provision of a 35-passenger boat stationed at Musawa village for community use and advised against the use of old canoes for transportation. Emir of Borgu, Haliru Jikantoro Kitoro II, expressed gratitude for N-HYPPADEC's assistance and urged the youth to avoid harmful social media narratives regarding local security issues.
