Nigeria Advocates Africa-Europe Partnership at EurAfrican Forum

At the EurAfrican Forum 2026 held in Portugal, Nigeria's Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, called for a strategic and equitable partnership between Africa and Europe to effectively address growing geopolitical challenges. The forum's theme focused on how Africa and Europe can navigate global geopolitical turmoil.

Ojukwu identified four key priorities to strengthen cooperation: promoting economic resilience, industrialization, infrastructure development, and enhancing collaboration on peace and security. She stressed that Africa should no longer be viewed solely through the lens of humanitarian crises and resource extraction but recognized as a strategic partner with abundant human capital and natural resources.

Ojukwu reaffirmed Nigeria's foreign policy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, advocating for genuine partnerships based on trust and shared responsibilities. She concluded by urging a shift from dependency to genuine collaboration to better position Africa and Europe in navigating current geopolitical uncertainties, contributing to peace and prosperity in the international order.
